2010 Calendar Updated

I have gotten several questions about the upcoming marching season schedule. Posted on the Web site (wrhsband.org) is the most up-to-date calendar possible at this point in the school year. Dates for competitions have not been announced yet, so I have guess as to when those may be. Please mark your calendars now and make your vacation plans accordingly. Also, please note that summer sectional schedules are to be determined by section instructors. Those times will be posted later this spring. As always, full camps are required by all members, and sectionals are required if you are in town, but if you must miss a sectional due to a family vacation or another summer camp, that is okay.

Please check back on the calendar regularly as frequent updates will be made as more information on the upcoming band and school season comes available. Remember, if you click on any event, you will get the full information of start and end times as well as location and other important details.

For any students interested in becoming a section leader, please remember that you are required to attend the Band Leadership Training camp. This camp is held every year in July on the UNC campus. Dates for this year's camp have not been released yet, however you can check on the Vivace Productions website www.vivaceproductions.com to stay posted. Anyone interested is welcome to attend the camp - you do not have to be a section leader to go! It is highly recommended for all students!

Parent/host family meeting Jan. 14

There will be an informational meeting this Thursday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. in the WRHS band room for families interested in hosting exchange students from Stade, Germany, who will be visiting Wheat Ridge High School this spring.

A group of 35 students will be visiting us from May 12 through May 21. Informational sheets were handed out to your students that contain additional details about their visit and what's expected from host families.

In a nutshell, host families are expected to:

*Join Lakewood Sister Cities. The fee is $20.
*Transport the students to and from WRHS for their activities. The plan is to schedule activities during the school day so that the exchange students can be dropped off and picked up along with your student.
*There will also be some evening and weekend activities planned.
*More information will be handed out during a parent/host meeting to be scheduled for April 21.

If you are interested in finding out how you can help, please plan to attend the meeting this Thursday.

Thanks for your support of the Wheat Ridge music program.
