Congrats, thanks, Hawaii and upcoming events

First, congratulations to the marching band for their spectacular 4th place finish at the Jeffco Marching Invitational last night. The band looked and sounded great on their first trip out, and we are excited to see what the rest of the season holds. Our next big event is Homecoming and the Arapahoe Marching Invitational, itineraries for which are attached in e-mails sent on Sept. 30. Please read them carefully.

Second, thank you to all of the parents who helped out last night at the competition. We saw several new faces and we hope to see several more!

Third, the next Hawaii payment is due tomorrow, Oct. 1, in the amount of $350. Chaperone forms are also due tomorrow. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Muncey.

Finally, an important note about the Arapahoe invitational. The event is held at Littleton Public Schools Stadium, which is located on the campus of Littleton High School at 199 E. Littleton Boulevard (South Broadway and Littleton Boulevard).

Those of us who have attended competitions at LPS know that spectator parking is extremely limited. For this year, however, the good folks coordinating the event have received permission from the owners of Burt GMC to allow spectators to park their vehicles on a large, vacant lot just south of Littleton Boulevard.

The lot is on the east side of Broadway, just south of Littleton Boulevard. Spectators can park there, and walk one block up to Littleton Boulevard, then go east one long block to the stadium. Signage will be strategically placed on Broadway directing people to the lot, and the lot will be staffed by volunteers.

Disabled persons will still be able to park in the lot closest to LPS Stadium.

Questions? Contact Mrs. Muncey, or respond to this e-mail.

And as always, Go Wheaties!!!!!

Time Change for Jeffco Festival

Just got word that WRHS will perform at 5:39 — and not 5:52 — during tomorrow's Jeffco Marching Invitational. An amended itinerary is attached. Please adjust your times accordingly, and remember to get to the stadium in advance of the performance time to make sure you can see the band's routine.

Upcoming Band Schedule

Fellow boosters:

The Marching Band has a busy schedule in the next few weeks. It begins on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with our benefit concert at the D-Note. The concert begins at 7, and we ask that you attend as well as bring lots of friends! The D-Note is located at 7519 Grandview Ave. in Olde Town Arvada.

Next, we have our first football game, on Thursday, Sept. 24, against Dakota Ridge. The football team is fun to watch, but the Marching Band is even better! Please come out to support both our great football team and our Marching Band. The game begins at 7 and will take place at the North Area Athletic Complex, 19400 West 64th Avenue Parkway in Arvada. It's basically on the corner of Colorado Highway 93 and 64th Avenue.

Next weekend — Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26 — is also the 17th Annual Retreat Weekend for the Marching Band. This is our final big push before our first competition the following Tuesday. It is important for the students to be at all rehearsals Friday and Saturday. Part of this weekend is the sleepover at the school and the parent performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Please make sure that when your student comes to school or rehearsal on Friday that you send them with a sleeping bag, pillow, and any other items necessary for a sleepover. High school students will be allowed to store their belongings during the school day. These rooms will be locked during the school day, but as with any activity, please do not send anything of great value with your student.

The parent performance is a fun opportunity to watch your students up close as well as get a small taste of how hard they work. Following the performance, we will have an ice cream social provided by the boosters that we hope you will all attend before taking your students home.

Last, but not least, the Jeffco Marching Festival will take place Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Jeffco Stadium on Kipling, just south of Sixth Avenue. This is our first major competition, and we hope you will attend. The atmosphere at a band competition is very different from a football game, and it is always fun to see other bands

Check your e-mail for information about all the upcoming events. As always, there are plenty of opportunities for parents to help out, whether it's serving as a chaperone, riding the bus or helping out on the Pit Crew. Just respond to this e-mail.....

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at all the upcoming events!

See some live music; help the band raise $$$$

Wonderlic, featuring the WRHS band's own Alejandro Castano, will be performing next Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the D-Note in downtown Arvada, in a fundraiser to benefit our music program. Hawaii trip info meeting Sept. 14

We are holding an informational meeting to discuss the band's Hawaii trip on Monday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

We'll have details about the trip including payment schedule, exact dates, what to expect, etc.

Mark Westwood will be there to answer questions, and we'll be taking deposits at this time as well. The total cost of the trip will not exceed $1,700 and we'll need a $200 deposit so we can hold plane tickets. Fundraising ideas will be covered at the meeting as well.

Questions? Send a note to Mrs. Muncey at cmuncey@jeffco.k12.co.us
