Carnation Festival Schedule: Aug. 15

It's hard to believe it, but the first event of the marching band season, The Carnation Parade, is on Saturday, Aug. 15. On Tuesday, those students who have not been fitted for uniforms (mostly woodwinds) will be fitted during practice so everyone is ready to march in uniform.
Students, make sure you bring your water bottles on the day of the parade. We will have jugs of water to refill them if necessary. Snacks will be provided after the parade.

Band Parents, if you are interested in helping with getting the students ready, riding buses (we need at least two parents per bus), and/or walking with the students (we'll be pulling a wagon with water bottles as the students march), please call Arlene at (303) 946-4425 or email her at arlene.bloom@comcast.net.

We appreciate your help and support. We're looking forward to a great season!

Here is the schedule:

6:30 AM Percussion and section leaders arrive to load trailer
7:00 AM Arrive at WRHS Band Room and get into uniforms
7:45 AM Uniform inspection and meeting
8:00 AM Load buses and leave for 38th and Sheridan
8:15 AM Arrive at 38th and Sheridan
8:30 AM Warm-up and run through parade sequence – drum cadence and “Hey Baby”
10:00 AM Parade Steps off
12 Noon Arrive at Safeway on 38th and Wadsworth
Eat snack, load trailer and buses
12:45 PM Arrive Back at WRHS – Get out of uniform
1:00 PM Go home!!
If you have long hair, please come with it braided
No make-up on anyone
No jewelry on anyone
Shoes must be shined before arrival at WRHS
Get a good night’s sleep Friday night and drink lots of water.
