On to Quarter, Semi-Finals

First off, thank you to everyone who was there to help out during last night's Metro Regionals. For those of you who couldn't be there, we know you were there in spirit!

Second, and importantly, the band is off to quarterfinal competition, which will take place Friday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. at Douglas County High School.

Because this competition is during the workweek, we realize it will be challenging for parents to help us out. That said, it's critically important we have enough adults to ride the buses, help get the students ready for competition, and, thirdly, help out with the Pit Crew. This season's performance requires us to move a lot of equipment, and we need all the help we can get. So, parents, if it's at all possible for you take some time off, or, if you are self-employed and can re-arrange your schedule, please consider giving up a morning and lend a hand. Your students, and the entire band, will appreciate it.

Please refer to the itinerary you received via e-mail for more information about the quarterfinals competition/Night Before State.

A few other notes: Because the band will be performing at quarterfinals, we will not be performing at the football game as originally scheduled Oct. 22. Instead, we will have a rehearsal Thursday after school to prepare for Friday's performance.

You'll also notice in the itinerary has a preliminary schedule for the semi-final competition that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Legacy Stadium in Aurora. The band's performance on Friday will determine when it will perform on Saturday; the tentative schedule attached will give you an idea of what to expect if the band winds up performing in the earliest time slots.

You can see that both Friday and, potentially, Saturday, will be two days of very early mornings, so please keep that in mind.

Finally, we'll be sending more information later in the week about Night Before State and other activities.

This is crunch week. No doubt about it. But the band is working hard, playing well and with your help and support, will finish the 2009 band competition season strong.

Again, thanks for your help. If you have any questions, let us know.

If you can volunteer for bus chaperone/helping get the students ready on Friday, please remember to contact Arlene Bloom at arlene.bloom@comcast.net or bthchandler@comcast.net if you're a Guard parent. For Pit Crew, contact DeWayne Oliver at dewkar@comcast.net.
